This week, The AmeriCorps of the American Red Cross throughout Michigan are taking a service trip up to the upper peninsula to help restore the North Country Trail. This trail has a big gap that they want to get cleared and marked so hikers can get through a very remote portion of the trail. Their project includes clearing and blazing a rough trail. The AmeriCorps are ready to lend their service through hard work and long days during warm weather. Some examples of the work they will be doing include clearing away downed trees, pulling stumps, lopping, digging, and rock removal. It is hard but rewarding work.
Trail work is a great way to express love of the outdoors, get physical activity in the fresh air, connect with others who have shared values and make a meaningful contribution that will be enjoyed for generations to come.
