On October 2nd, our Greater Grand Rapids Chapter of the American Red Cross, sent out a team of local volunteers to Rochester, Minnesota in order to aid relief efforts after the devastating floods in the south of the state. The chosen volunteers have 24 hours to accept the request. Many of them are more than willing to rearrange their daily responsibilities in order to respond to this call to help.
Included in this team is AmeriCorps member, Drew Davis. You can watch his live phone interview with Fox News 17 right here: Watch it now!
Drew and his fellow volunteers have been assigned to help with the assessment of flood damage. In response to this situation, the Red Cross has already provided shelter, food, emotional support and comfort to about 3,000 people. Thanks to generous donations, the Red Cross is able to readily deploy hard-working volunteers to help rebuild homes and restore hope in the many affected cities.
