Q: Unemployed? A: Volunteer!

The buzzword around West Michigan seems to be “unemployment.” It’s not fun for anyone to be jobless — it’s easy enough for boredom or depression to set in. However, there is a way not to waste your time off and leave a big hole in your resumé.

Check out this great article from the New York Times about volunteers in the Miami Red Cross who aren’t letting the proverbial grass grow under their feet. Instead, through volunteering to help during local disasters, volunteers can find fulfilling work that helps others in the community and at the same time, fits neatly into a resumé gap. Give it a read!
