The whale’s name is Longfellow, to be precise.
We came across this photo from a water safety program from the Greater Chicago chapter. These kids are getting the education of a lifetime, learning about water safety. (I wouldn’t be surprised if they all ran home and begged on their knees for their parents to sign them up for Red Cross swim lessons.)
In Michigan, where you are never more than 6 miles from fresh water, the importance of learning water safety cannot be overstated — go to www.greatergrandrapids.redcross.org to see how you can get safe for summer.
**Disclaimer: I don’t believe our chapter has a Longfellow costume, so if you do take our water safety courses, we cannot promise that Longfellow will put in an appearance. But he’ll be there in spirit.**
