Your Local Red Cross Celebrates Community Service on MLK Day!

To celebrate Martin Luther King Day, our AmeriCorps organized several service projects to celebrate our diverse community! We partnered with members from Campfire USA and volunteers from Hope Worldwide, Grand Rapids Fire Department and the ARC of West Michigan and achieved the following:

  • 1,000 smoke alarms were given out at 11 different locations
  • 1,635 pieces of fire safety literature were distributed
  • 652 fire safety coloring books were distributed
  • 32 people volunteered
  • 20 special education students received a 4 hour lesson on numerous aspects of fire safety here at the chapter
  • 230 students were taught fire safety and personal hygiene in Rockford, MI

Thank you to all who participated and made it such a great day! Just more ways that your local Red Cross is working to make our community a safer place to live and work.
