THE SHELTER IS CLOSING BY 1:30 PM ON SUNDAY, JUNE 21, DUE TO MOST SHELTER RESIDENTS HEADING HOME.

This morning, we waved goodbye to 17 Red Cross AmeriCorps from around the state as they revved their engines and headed out to Cedar Rapids, Iowa. AmeriCorps members from the Grand Rapids, Bay City, Muskegon, and Lansing Red Cross chapters piled into 5 vans and hit the road to celebrate National AmeriCorps Week.

On Wednesday, September 17, we helped 20 families who were affected by an apartment fire in Wyoming. We provided them with shelter, as well as basic needs such as food, clothing and medical attention.

The American Red Cross of Greater Grand Rapids has had a busy week! We responded to a fatal apartment fire on Bridge St. on Saturday, as well as being on the scene downtown today, to offer our support and help to the rescue workers at Butterworth Hospital after the helicopter crash on the roof.
