The Red Cross of West Michigan offers summer babysitting courses to those between the ages of 11 and 15 who are interested in learning how to properly care for and tend to children and infants. This is a great opportunity for teenagers as babysitting is often a first job for many. It also looks great on a resumé to future employers! We realize everybody has different schedules and that’s why the Red Cross offers two options: in-class sessions AND online courses! But, the question is, which is right for you?
Babysitting Basics is offered online. This is beneficial because it allows a student to learn anywhere, anytime and at their own pace. The online course takes roughly four hours to complete and provides many videos and interactive exercises. Students are able to stop the course and continue at a later date. Upon completion, the student receives a printable diploma to share with others.
Babysitter’s Training is our in-class session. It’s a one-time, 7-hour class which offers one-on-one experience with an expert Red Cross trainer. It’s an opportunity to experience with your friends or the chance to make new ones! The in-class session covers more in-depth first aid topics to further educate the student that may not be learned otherwise.
