In the past week, over the Christmas holiday, Red Cross volunteers took no vacation from serving the needs of our community. Our volunteers were present at the condo fire in Cascade, the trailer park flooding in Culterville and set up a warming station at our chapter this past weekend. We are still meeting the needs of power outage and flooding victims in Kent, Barry and Ionia counties.
A total of 22 people in the last week have received Red Cross assistance and our volunteers are prepared to assist as needed in the coming days.
The warming shelter at our chapter building was kept open throughout the day on Sunday and through last night, serving families in our community. The shelter will effectively close today but anyone still in need of assistance because of power outages, flooding or other emergencies, please call (616) 456-8661.
If you would like to help us to continue making our community a safer place to live and work, consider donating today to our Local Disaster Relief Fund.
Thank you!
